Kaiser Permanente / The Southeast Permanente Medical Group, (TSPMG) is happy to announce a remote, full-time opening for a Consultant, Business Intelligence Analytics role. This individual is responsible for leading the analytical functions specific to one of the following business functional areas: Clinical/Hospital Operations, Member Experience, and Quality. The Consultant will work with Business Owners, Project Managers, and other "Requesters" of data to translate requests into clear and actionable conclusions. This involves many responsibilities including the facilitation of tasks to understand the objectives of the business owner, retrieval of data, organization of data into information, interpretation of data and its meaning and the conclusion of business directives derived from the analytical activities. Additionally, the Consultant must manage multiple analytical requests at one time. Specific responsibilities of the Consultant include but may not be limited to: Act in a coaching / mentoring role for Analysts and/or Data Delivery Specialists. Oversee analytical and reporting services within his/ her scope of work. Serve as a data Subject Matter Expert (SME) to consult with business owners on the data itself. Support departments and interdisciplinary groups by facilitating the acquisition of data and information needed to drive Regional and operational decision making and process improvements. Actively participate as a project team member. Obtain, analyze, organize, and interpret data into actionable findings, recommendations, and conclusions. Facilitate report production or data process development required to meet business needs. Maintain a broad spectrum of knowledge regarding business processes and the underlying systems and data sources that support these processes.

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Information Systems, Business, Statistical, Accounting, Management or related field, and also 6 years of related work experience (i.e. in a reporting and analytical environment, preferably in healthcare).

Minimum Education and/or Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with SQL data manipulation
  • 5+ years of managing analytical requests, creating analytical solutions, establishing analytical standards and metrics, and communicating insights to senior leaders, operational leaders, and other analysts
  • 5+ years using analytical tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Python and R to produce actionable insights to answer business questions
  • Understanding of medical terminology including diagnosis codes and procedure codes
  • Experience translating front end workflows into data requirements. Ability to interpret end user needs into actionable and accurate reports.
  • Excellent in critical thinking, analytical, and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work within a team and cross functional teams
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work directly with various levels of leadership and bring high priority projects to a successful result.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Education and/or Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Information Systems, Business, Statistical, Accounting, Management or related field
  • Epic certification in Clarity or Cogito

You will:

  • Create and maintain external and internal reporting to demonstrate the value of tour program, and optimize the services we deliver
  • Conduct analyses to ensure that decisions about the future of the program (product, marketing, partnerships) are made based on data
  • Support the development of data products used by patients and staff to improve services offered to patients

You have:

  • 4+ years of experience in using analytics and data science to impact key business decisions
  • Related experience in statistics, economics, operations research, or mathematics.
  • Knowledge in choosing the right technical approach
  • Manage analytical projects from "question to answer" including problem framing, data collection and validation, exploratory analysis, statistical modeling, visualization, synthesis, and ongoing maintenance of reusable tools

Overview

At the direction of the Director of Quality Analytics, assume a system-wide role to manage and improve all population health measurement and reporting functions across the Dartmouth Health system. Perform analyses and identify areas for improvement in ambulatory quality, patient experience and utilization performance for risk-based and ACO reimbursement programs. Provide direct oversight and mentorship for department staff as well as embedded resources for specified programs and projects. Collaborate with population health management and primary care leadership to allocate resources for programs, projects and strategic priorities. Manage designated departmental projects as indicated.

Responsibilities

  1. Partner with AI leadership to help develop an overall population health analytics and reporting plan for DH that supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values and sets direction for DH to become a national leader. Priorities will be influenced by organizational priorities as well as regional and national risk-based contracts, shared savings, and ACO initiatives.
  2. Manage departmental consulting, analytics & reporting structure to support system-wide priorities, ongoing reporting, and ad hoc local efforts specific to population health.
  3. Assist in and support the development and implementation of a system-wide comprehensive population health measurement program.
  4. Monitor, trend, and report population health improvement activities related to quality and utilization indicators.
  5. Oversee the preparation and distribution of regular reports regarding population health, including reports to committees of the Board of Governors, Board of Trustees, and reports to be made publicly available.
  6. Collaborate with the population health and primary care leadership in the development of actionable measurement for population health performance initiatives.
  7. Monitor trends in quality reporting among various payors related to risk based contracts and ACO initiatives and integrate these requirements into the D-H plan, as appropriate.
  8. Apply principles of continuous performance improvement and high reliability systems in all activities.
  9. Work with the data warehouse staff to troubleshoot issues with claims data feeds and to ensure the accuracy of that data.
  10. Maintain accountability for human resource management through application of effective interviewing skills, clear communication of performance expectations, timely confidential counseling, delegation of responsibilities, and provision of regular feedback to designated employees regarding their performance.
  11. Represent the Analytics Institute on appropriate committees.
  12. Develop and manage department budget.
  13. Perform other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical quality data, outcomes analysis, and actionable reporting or Bachelor’s degree and 7 years’ similar experience required.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and skill in healthcare measurement techniques, applied use of information systems and project management.
  • Knowledge of payor claims data and risk based reimbursement programs required.
  • Must be skilled in the use of PC database and spreadsheet software (e.g. Access, Excel).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication and leadership skills necessary. Creativity and demonstrated ability to innovate desired.
