A Statement from the HDAA Board of Directors

July 4, 2020

Subject: HDAA Board Statement Regarding Healthcare Equity

To: All HDAA Members

2020 has been a year of unprecedented change and crisis.  As healthcare organizations we have all been on the frontlines of our national and global response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the United States, we have also been experiencing unrest, peaceful protests and righteous anger across our country incited by the senseless killing of George Floyd. However, the real causes of the call for change are rooted in systemic, longstanding racial, economic and societal inequities.

As healthcare professionals and Board members of HDAA we believe we have an important role to play in understanding and addressing at least one facet of this complex problem -  healthcare disparities in our country.  We as HDAA, and as individuals, with the power to influence healthcare delivery and policy have a role in understanding, educating and addressing healthcare disparities in all of its forms.

At HDAA, we are committed to creating forums and hosting conversations where we can educate, learn, innovate and enable ourselves to ensure health equity for all.  Our goal will be in sync with HDAA’s core belief in the power of community, shared knowledge and open dialogue between our members across the country and around the world.  We will start by hosting a Town Hall to begin the discussion and we would welcome your participation as we start this important conversation.

Sincerely,

HDAA Board of Directors
